Abstract:
In the post-pandemic world, combined with the epidemic use of social media and focus on screens, children are exhibiting increased anxiety and depression in school, family, and community settings. Play therapy is a powerful intervention that supports children as they integrate the many challenges of their world.

This workshop reviews historical and current theoretical models of play therapy.  Join us as we cover the techniques and settings in which play therapy is used. Explore ways to adapt these interventions to meet various needs and frameworks. Participants will learn how the therapeutic powers of play can be used to support healthy development and resolve challenges faced by clients today. Participants will engage in metaphoric activities including sandtray, building and construction activities, miniature play, fantasy role play, and art.
